It is the tenth consecutive monthly increase in the prices of houses for sale.

The price of used housing in Spain has registered an increase of 0.4% during the month of October, standing at 2,016 euros/m2, according to the latest real estate price index. This figure is 7.1% higher than that of the same month last year, while it is 4.7% below the historical maximum price of housing in Spain, recorded in June 2007.

The Canary Islands (1.9%), lead the increases, followed by Navarra (1.6%), Cantabria (0.8%), Community of Madrid, Balearic Islands, Galicia, and Extremadura (0.7% in the four regions). Below are the increases in Castilla y León (0.6%), Asturias (0.4%), Region of Murcia (0.3%), La Rioja (0.3%), Castilla-La Mancha (0 .2%) and the Valencian Community (0.1%).

Catalonia (-0.2%) and Euskadi (-0.2%), on the other hand, are the only regions in which the price of used housing has fallen, while in Andalusia and Aragon it has remained unchanged.

The Balearic Islands with 4,063 euros/m2 is the most expensive autonomy followed by the Community of Madrid (3,152 euros/m2). They are followed by Euskadi (2,839 euros/m2), the Canary Islands (2,380 euros/m2) and Catalonia (2,329 euros/m2). On the opposite side of the table, we find Castilla-La Mancha (907 euros/m2), Extremadura (953 euros/m2) and Castilla y León (1,159 euros/m2), which are the most economical communities.

The Balearic Islands are reaffirmed as the most expensive province. 

Up to 38 provinces have prices higher than those registered in the previous month. The largest increases have been experienced in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (2.5%), followed by Soria (2%), Seville (1.8%), Navarra and Valladolid (1.6% in both cases). On the opposite side, Teruel (-0.8%), is the province where sellers' expectations are reduced the most, followed by Barcelona (-0.7%), Álava (-0.6%), Lugo (-0.5%), Vizcaya and Jaén (-0.4% in the two provinces).

The Balearic Islands are reaffirmed as the most expensive province to purchase a home (4,063 euros/m2) ahead of Guipúzcoa (3,498 euros/m2). They are followed by Madrid (3,152 euros/m2), Málaga (3,049 euros/m2), Vizcaya (2,726 euros/m2) and Barcelona (2,647 euros/m2).

Ciudad Real is the cheapest province with a price of 751 euros for each square meter. They are followed by Cuenca (801 euros/m2) and Jaén (821 euros/m2).
